If a new user has been created, it’ll take hours for XD to be visible in the Creative Cloud desktop application. If still, XD isn’t showing, please contact our customer support representatives. I’m excited about the major announcements we’re making today about Adobe XD, our application for designing and prototyping websites, mobile apps, and other experiences. This release also embodies a lot of what makes me so excited to be back at Adobe. We’re developing a platform that will help user experience designers embrace new interfaces and facilitate the broad collaboration that is essential to moving their projects forward. The incredible group of designers and engineers building Adobe XD recognizes the gravity of this opportunity. I encourage you to open your largest screen design file with hundreds (or thousands) of artboards in Adobe XD to see the performance for yourself. We must also find ways to make experience design more productive and powerful by a step-function.

It’s available now as a free download for Mac OS X (10.10 or later, and Adobe ID required), followed by iOS, Android, and Windows 10 versions at a later date. Adobe says commercial release is scheduled for later this year, but adds that the roadmap is contingent on user feedback. Project Comet/XD seems to be Adobe’s evolution of the discontinued Fireworks application.

While complex and with a considerable learning curve, Adobe XD is the leading software to design and refine user interfaces and apps. You can continue designing in your preferred applications, bring the assets into XD, and then use XD to create and share prototypes. XD supports SVG and bitmap files without any loss of fidelity.
